So what do you do when you’re feeling completely grim like I am today? I’m feeling awful. But I’m going to show you how to get through work feeling ill. You know when you’re just really icky and it must be something you’ve eaten because yesterday you were exactly the same?
I tried to push through, as you do, but I just don’t feel like I really want to eat anything. I’m looking messy. I’ve got holes in my knickers… and it’s just one of those days.
I’m going to show you how to get unstuck. I am closing the gap on where you are, to where you want to be for more time freedom.
I’ve got a great piece of advice for you because when you are feeling this way, the best thing to do, especially if you need to create content for your business, is to do a podcast! Right now, although you might have a visual impression of how I’m looking, you can’t actually see me.
I don’t need to do a youtube video… I do a podcast when I’m not looking my best.
There are many days throughout the year I’m either looking at mess, not feeling very well or you know what, I just want to stay in my pyjamas and I just want to have a bad look day. Today’s one of those days. The beauty of running your own business and the beauty of technology today is that we can actually still be super productive no matter what. And that is the most important thing. So whether your, you know, a bit off or have a headache or got the flu or just thinking, oh my God, I’m feeling awful… no matter what you’re doing, there’s a way that you can bounce back.

And when you actually do that, what you’re creating is more of a growth mindset. Seeing opportunities. You don’t see challenges anymore. Like I could have woke up this morning and thought I cannot work today. I’m putting on Netflix on and I’m gonna spend the whole day in bed and I have done this over the many years that I’ve now been running my own business… I’ve had many of those days.
I used to be the days where I’d come on my period, you know, time of the month. I’d have horrendous period pain. And I don’t just mean like a little bit of pain cause some people might think, oh she might be being a bit dramatic there. No horrendous period pains, to the point where i’d sweat and I’d get really hot and clammy. I’d have to take all my clothes off and lay on a really cold floor just to cool me down!
I would be going back and forth until (you know) when you need to go to the loo. But you can’t go…. this probably too much information! But it was exactly like that. And then I remember my partner once saying, yeah, yeah you’re not ill, you’re not unwell, Blah Blah Blah. You know, typical, typical male doesn’t really see because he hasn’t experienced it before. And he was laughing at me. I remember this so well… next minute… He wasn’t laughing when I was vomiting all over his office and he was like, oh crap, yes, she must be really in pain!
I was, I can’t even explain it. I was so much in pain.
I have another story about this as well, I had a neighbour, and this is going back about seven, eight years ago, who was a paramedic. I was in the house on my own.
I was on my period and I sat on the front step this particular day feeling very dizzy and I just felt awful and I thought, I don’t want to be on my own because if I’m on me own, something bad could happen to me.
So I knocked on my neighbour’s door and her daughter opens and her mum was actually at work (the paramedic) and she said, well, why don’t you come in a moment while I came in and I vomited all over the hallway. Literally it covered everywhere, but because I was feeling so weak I didn’t even offer to clean it up. I sat down and later I felt really bad. So I sent a card and flowers around and you know, apologised and what not.
Um, but those days that I used to have, I would write them off. I’d go, you know what, I’m going to go back to bed. I’ve got serious period pain. I can’t deal with the pain and i’ll take the day off.
I need sympathy. I need someone to come and stroke my face. You know, I was really, um, what’s the word I was, I was just needing, needing love, needing, needing somebody to support me through this.
Then I found the solution to being able to carry on with my day and how to get through work feeling ill.
So no matter what, so if I’m feeling ill or if I’m in pain, I know exactly what to do, and within 5 to 10 minutes, I can literally carry on with my day because I know what to do. I’ve got the toolbox now. And before I didn’t have that. So it was pretty hard, to be able to carry on with my day.
Sometimes it might take 20 minutes to be able to bounce back, but 20 minutes is nothing in comparison to the seven or eight hours of work that I was missing out on per day. So I want to help people be able to bounce back a little bit more. And I want people to be able to carry on with their day and say focused on success because every time you have one of these hurdles, no matter what that hurdle may be, you need to be able to overcome that challenge quite quickly and don’t let anything hold you back.
I’ve been in relationships before where we’ve had horrendous days. I’m talking morning arguments, crying, tears… and then you can’t concentrate and you’re texting them all morning!
Now I can, change things around quite quickly. It’s heaven!
